Round and Round it Goes, Where Wiki Stops, Nobody Knows!

You’ve all heard of Round Robin story writing, where one person starts a story and several authors add to it. This has been a staple at the HazzardNet forums since the dawn of the site. The trick is to write a story that has some semblance of continuity. Not an easy task when several authors jump in with a mirad of ideas and the story goes in every which direction but straight sometimes.

Well, check this out. The ultimate Round Robin story. The Wiki Round Robin story!

Publisher launches its first “wiki” novel - Yahoo! News

After years of watching RR stories on HNet, I can only imagine what this story is gonna look like when it’s “done.” Heh heh!

Baddabingbadda…Part Two

Back on January 6th, I had a blog about the types of letters to the editor that appear in my local newspaper, referred in this blog as “The Capital City Gazette.” Names and places are changed to protect the innocent (and sometimes not so innocent). Anyway, y’all think I’m fooling don’t ya? I ain’t. Here’s another prime example from the January 20th Gazette…

As a hardworking taxpaying citizen of “Capital City”, I write to ask two questions.

First, what are you guys saving the sand and salt for?

I have just returned from walking my dog. For the second time in two days, I took a nasty spill on the ice-slicked streets of our fair city. Fortunately I have not yet been seriously injured. I hope another trip to the chiropractor will fix any damage.

But my second question is: Whom do I sue when I do hurt myself and become incapacitated because “Capital City” has not properly attended to the side streets?

The small amount of snow we received is packed and covered with ice. Considering that we have had only this one storm so far, it would behoove the powers that be to keep their citizens safe.

When I go out with my dog, I wear the appropriate footwear, but short of putting steel spikes on their shoes, nothing is going to prevent people from falling in these deplorable conditions. I live at “Smith” and “West” streets, and every side street in this neighborhood is the same, with no safe place to walk my dog.

As a homeowner my responsibility is to keep my property safe and ice-free, which I have taken great pains to do. I ask the city to fulfill its responsibility for its citizens’ safety by sanding all the streets, not just the main thoroughfares.

CAN I. WALKMYDOG
“Capital City”

Folks, you can’t make up this crap. That’s why I don’t. I just scour the letters to the editor of my local newspaper and have at it.

First of all, in no way do I want to minimize the legitimate concern of keeping our sidewalks and streets clear during the winter so we all don’t slip and fall. But I had said in my January 6th commentary that if the city failed to do something within 24 hours, the letters to the editor would be pouring in. This fine example not only berates the city for being slow on the uptake, the “hardworking taxpaying citizen” is just itching to sue the city’s collective granite covered posterior off because of it.

Ya think Can I. Walkmydog stopped to realize that if they sued the city, and won, theirs and everybody else’s taxes would probably go up? Hmmmm…..
