Chaos by Coltrane. Putting (and breaking) the rule in unruliness!

Five for Five

Five random things!

1. As you all know I have to wait to catch up with The Colbert Report on the weekends. So I ended up with a MAJOR spoiler alert today when I caught briefly on CNN that Stephen has tossed his hat in, taken the plunge, and dropped the bomb. He’s….

Running for President!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!

Buuuut…only in South Carolina (his native state). Which means he’s not reallyrunning for President, otherwise I would expect to see him in my home state at some point with $1000 in his hand to file for his candidacy. (I wonder if it would be $2000 since he’s running under both parties? Hmmmm….)

More than likely not to be tho’. Although it would be a hoot if he did a “campaign” swing through here. (Please? Pretty please?! Oh please oh please oh please!!!)

Ahem. Anyway, moving on…

2. Newsweek is running a story in their latest issue about the effect of the credit crunch and how people are working to cut back and downsize to save some money. The story opens with a guy who has given up his $8 French cafe’ deux lattes and bought an espresso machine for home, saving him $7 and how he’s now mowing his lawn himself instead of having somebody else mow it.

I was almost sympathetic. Until I saw that his and his wife’s combined income was $200,000.

Boy, talk about dire straits…

3. The US Postal Service pisses me off. If you mail anything more than 16 ounces you have to physically take it to your local post office to be processed, your mail carrier can’t pick it up for you. Our mail carrier walks into our place of business to pick up our mail. What possible “dangerous” items does the USPS think we could possibly be shipping to OUR OWN MAIN OFFICE?!?!

4. The US Postal Service makes me happy! I learned today that a new stamp came out in August in their Legends of Hollywood series featuring Jimmy Stewart! I picked up a sheet today since I had to go to the post office for work and mail out some packages that violated #3 above.

Legendary actor James Stewart

5. I just realized that Stephen Colbert doesn’t have to do a “campaign” swing through my state. He can do a book signing!! And he really really really oughta come here because the binding company that put his book together was the only one in the country that could do the special things that were required for this book, from the staining of the edge of the pages to the special “First Edition” place marker ribbon that’s in the binding. What greater honor it would be then to go to the state that is the home of that binding company. C’mon Stephen, we’d love to see ya here!
